Day 6. Erice

We were busy all day with no time to do the blog. 
Great day up to the temple at Erice and lunch of Pizza.
Then to a vineyard for a wine tasting of Madeira

Day 12

OLeft the magnificent Monte Taupo Hotel in Taormina to fly to Rome and then Bari.  That hotel built almost vertically down the cliff face was 8 stories high, one room wide with every room getting a view of the ocean from nearly 1000 feet above the water. Just incredible !! Arrived in Bari and drove to the little seaside village of Giovinazzo. Staying in the old town with similar street scrapes to those in Sicily although the guide claims that this is the best part of Italy !

Day 29 - Stavanger

Lying on the south west coast of Norway, Stavanger is the country's fourth largest city and is nicknamed the oil capital.  A wander through the car free streets show open air markets and the usual picturesque mountains and waterfalls.  One of the most popular tourist destinations is Pulpit Rock which we reached by fast catamaran in about 30 minutes.  It stands 1500 feet above the water and is a flat rock giving tourists a breathtaking scenic view above the fjord. The cathedral in the city centre built in 1123 remains the oldest in Norway.

Taormina and Mount Etna - a great day up on the mountain!    Gondola took us up another 1,000 metres! Walked a little further up the mountain- legs felt like lead.
