Day 5 Palermo




Attached below is a map of the Island of Sicily showing in red the route we are taking.






Today we drove from Palermo to Monteale to first see the cathedral filled with early medieval paintings.



The huge organ filled both sides of the altar.




Then on to Corleone to see where the mafia clan were immortalised as the birthplace of several characters in The Godfather.

Day 29 - Stavanger

Lying on the south west coast of Norway, Stavanger is the country's fourth largest city and is nicknamed the oil capital.  A wander through the car free streets show open air markets and the usual picturesque mountains and waterfalls.  One of the most popular tourist destinations is Pulpit Rock which we reached by fast catamaran in about 30 minutes.  It stands 1500 feet above the water and is a flat rock giving tourists a breathtaking scenic view above the fjord. The cathedral in the city centre built in 1123 remains the oldest in Norway.

Day 11

The tour finished today with a trip to Savoca and then our goodbyes back at Taormina. Mike made a great speech including everyone of the group.  Many funny memories were bought up including Lizzie comment to the young waiter early on the tour.  Lizzie by the way is 86 and kept up with the group with ease. The final dinner at a local restaurant, noisy but a great night. This is Lizzie with Judy, we all had fun with Lizzie. From left, Robyn, Mike and Brigitta at the post dinner drinks restaurant.
